Terms and Conditions of Service
OUTLINE OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
HOURS:
CSCI standard hours of work are 37 hours per week.
Part-time, job share, annualised hours and term time working are all considered within CSCI.
ANNUAL LEAVE:
32.5 days (pro-rata for part time/job share).
CONTINUOUS SERVICE:
Previous continuous service with the NHS/Local Authority will count under the Employment Rights Act 1996, as continuous service.
RELOCATION EXPENSES:
If you have to move house to take up the appointment, you may qualify for financial assistance towards expenses. Further information about the CSCI relocation policy will be available at interview.
BUSINESS EXPENSES:
All staff will be reimbursed for expenditure necessarily incurred in order to do their job, which includes travel allowances when working away from the normal place of work. (Please note that Commission policy does not allow for payment of home-to-base or base-to-home mileage and this must be subtracted from any daily travel mileage claims). Mileage rates when traveling by private transport are as follows:
Private car: 40 pence per mile for the first 10,000 business miles, thereafter 25 pence from 10,001 miles
Motor Cycle: 24 pence per mile
Passenger allowances: 05 pence per mile (for carrying passengers on official business)
When traveling by public transport, such as by rail or air, then actual receipted amounts will be reimbursed.
PENSION:
Pension benefits are provided under the CSCI pension scheme (the Local Government Pension Scheme). If you wish to join the LGPS, you will be required to complete a joining form. Membership of the scheme is not automatic. There are arrangements for transferring pension rights to and from other pension schemes and for increasing pension entitlement by the purchase of additional years.
RETIREMENT AGE:
There are no age limits, however, CSCIs normal retirement age is 65. Employees reaching the age of 65 will have the opportunity to attend a meeting to discuss their future employment.
PROFESSIONAL IMAGE:
CSCI does not seek to inhibit individual personal style of appearance. However, you are expected to dress appropriately at all times, in relation to the role performed, and ensure the professional image of the CSCI is conveyed.
CRB:
A number of posts within CSCI require a CRB check before taking up appointment. Further information is available from the CSCI People Development department.
CHARACTER ENQUIRY:
If you are successful in gaining an assessment/interview you will also be required to complete a character enquiry form.
TRAVEL & SUBSISTENCE FOR INTERVIEW:
2nd class train fare or 25p per mile for travelling to/from assessment/interview venue.
For overnight accommodation, up to £85 per night may be authorised, and if staying in London up to £95 may be authorised if applicable.
